Job Summary:
JOB SUMMARY
The Health Services Research Analyst will be responsible for assisting with all phases of a federally-funded grant on patient and healthcare provider perceptions about ethical issues of autonomous robot-assisted surgery, focusing on informed consent. The analyst will perform a variety of research and operations-related activities, including data collection, management, analysis of qualitative data, and report preparation. This part-time position (20 hours/week) is available for two years.
Responsibilities include: Focusing on overall project quality and client deliverables while completing job responsibilities with direction and instruction from the project manager and Principal Investigator; Preparing and executing study protocols in collaboration with a research team to address research questions and objectives; Identifying and collecting appropriate data, including from literature, databases, interviews and/or surveys using scientifically valid methods; Developing and executing analysis using appropriate analytic techniques; Recruitment of participants and assessing study eligibility via telephone or teleconference; Obtaining informed consent from participants; Conducting in-person and/or remote web-based interviews with patients and healthcare professionals; Setting up and managing REDCap databases and online surveys; Performing quality assurance and quality control procedures on own and others' work; Preparing written technical reports, peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations; Supporting project leads in identifying challenges and strategies to mitigate risk early on; and Communicating any risks and mitigation strategies to senior leadership, if necessary.
The Health Services Research Analyst will complete all activities by strictly following Good Clinical Practices and all relevant current local, state, and federal laws, regulations, guidance, policies, and procedures developed by the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Institutional Review Board.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates research projects and performs tasks related to the execution and operations of research projects.
- Uses skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods to contribute to the design, coordination, and conduct of research projects.
- Fosters collaboration between team members, both internal and external to the department.
- Data management and analysis.
- Qualitative coding and thematic analysis.
- Sets up REDCap databases, conducts online surveys and in-depth interviews, and performs data entry.
- Coordinates development of datasets, data cleaning, data validation, and data reporting.
- Summarizes and interprets complex analyses.
- Prepares materials and drafts sections of presentation and written documents.
- Creates charts, graphs, and tables to summarize analysis results.
- Contributes to peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts.
- Communicates and models values and mission of VU/VUMC.
