In compliance with applicable State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 vaccine requirement are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption. Requests for medical exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved medical exemption is required to start work.

*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.

Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster two months after completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19. Because vaccine-induced immunity can wane over time, MSK continues to strongly urge all staff to get a COVID-19 booster as soon as they become eligible to maintain their protective immunity for a longer period.

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Finance Manager (Sponsored Projects) to join the Research Financial Management team!

The group is responsible for post-award research fund administration, review, and approval of fiscal expenditures. We review the application and analysis of budgetary controls for funding sponsors. We also ensure institutional compliance with federal, state, agency, governing regulations, policies, and procedures concerning sponsored and non-sponsored research.

You serve as the principal administrative resource and contact between investigators, external funding agencies, and MSK. Act as an information consultant for the researchers in the institution.

While this position is a hybrid role, potential on-site visits are limited to 1-2 times a year. Most of the time will be spent working remotely.

You Are!

• Accurate in developing and managing budgets, projecting expenditures, and managing recommended solutions.

You Will:

• Assume financial control of assigned departments and review funding expenditures by the investigators. Monitor cost allowability, administrative reasonableness, appropriate award applicability, and funding availability.
• Establish management and administrative controls for all grants, contracts, and other research funding mechanisms. Advise investigators and department administration about funding availability and potential issues.
• Ensure rules for grants management are understood, disseminated, and followed. This includes supervising federal sources, voluntary agencies, industrial contracts, philanthropic sources, and MSK institutional policy.
• In collaboration with the investigator, establish and maintain annual budgets for research awards. Act as a resource for research investigators in the area of financial award management. Be a point of contact between the investigator and the awarding agencies.
• Maintain discretion for confidential information and appropriately handle critical information and sensitive situations.

You Need:

• 2-4 years of experience in a related field; preferably an administration environment performing duties similar to the above.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Knowledge of federal agency regulations, policies and procedures, circulars, laws, and federal acquisition regulations applicable to sponsored programs.
• Mid to sophisticated level skills in Microsoft Office and business intelligence products such as Tableau or Cognos.
